About Dramas and Shows #1

Hey to all  you people who reads my blog!

How have you been? I've been busy all around as usual (if you want to know about my days then follow me on dayre!).

You'd think that with how busy I am, I won't have anything else but I actually do! No matter how busy I am, I haven't stop watching dramas and variety shows. So today, i'm going to list how the programmes I recommend!

1. W

This drama just ended and if you are k-drama fan you probably watched it. If you haven't, this drama is really worth watching. At first when I heard this drama without knowing its content I was like "meh, this dosen't seem worthwhile..its just another romance drama" but then I was wrong. The plot was refreshing and different from what's been out in the k-drama scene. Though the ending was iffy and not what I expected *cough*sorry for spoiler*cough*, the entire first half of the drama was really good so do check it out!

2. Hit The Stage

I rarely put up on my blogs on the kind of variety shows I watch so this would actually be the first and I really really recommend this show. I started watching this show since it first came out because of U-kwon from block b (whose finally getting some recognition thanks to this show! There's more to block b then zico #justsaying #istillloveyouzico). And homg I was blown away by his performance@ Especially the Joker performance, it really made a huge impression, like I knew he was in-charge of dance in Block B but where has he been hiding this talent?  I was also blown away by the other team's performances especially in the last performance.  With a new theme every 2 weeks, its been an amazing show. There were also performances by the J-black dance crew every week and their really awesome!  So if dance is something you like to watch, then hit the stage is for you! This show is very different from the rest, cuz honestly theres enough singing shows, a show on dance is a cool concept amongst that.

3. Jealousy Incarnate

This is a drama that is ongoing and I recently started to watch it myself. Its up till I think episode 14 and its another typical romance drama where two guys fall in love with a girl. But hey, we need a cheesy romance drama somewhere in our life and I'm a fan of go kyung pyo (since reply 1988) so I decided to check this out. Also, I could relate to Gong Hyo Jin's character to a certain extent so when Go kyung's pyo's character appeared in the film, my mind just went 'he is ultimate goals'. Not cuz his character is rich, but his personality and the way he says things...oh man..if only guys like that exsist in real life (lets keep dreaming momoko). But yeah, this was a good 'pick me up' show.

4. Scarlet Heart Ryeo

When I first heard this drama was coming out, I was super excited because 1.it was a korean remake of a chinese drama (bu bu jing xin) I used to love. 2. Nam Joo Hyuk is in it...come on I had to watch it.
However when I started watching, all my reasons above went out the door and now I watch cuz Lee Jun Ki comes out every week. The plot is honestly not the best (its quite different from the chinese drama) but the characters make it more bearable to watch. Though i must say starting from this week, the drama's plot might finally be intense, but thats not the point. What's more important is lee jun ki. How did he get so handsome?! I've watched him a couple of times but i've never really thought he was super handsome? He starred in a movie, 'the king and the clown' that i watched yearrrrrsss back and I remember thinking he was pretty cute. Cute and pretty, he was more like a flowerboy. Then I saw him in 'the scholar who walks through the night' (which I watched cuz TVXQ Changmin was in it) and I was like 'wow, he still hasn't lost his look' but when I watched him on scarlet heart, he looked really different in it. It could be cause he seems more skinner and manly in the outfit I dont know..OR it could the long hair he sports (forever a weakness) but he looks really good and I wait for a new episode of this drama just to watch him.

So! if you are looking for a show to make your day, then I'd recommend this drama.

I'll stop my recommendations here. The list would probably continue along the months as new dramas and shows starts so I'll update once in a while with that.

Just so you know I'm a huge fan of koreans shows, hence all the above are basically korean programmes. So if you have a suggestion like what I should watch then let me know below!!
If you've watched the programmes, let me know your thoughts!

Till the next post!

Cheers!

Back Online and probably going back Offline

Back from a long hiatus and would probably go back to another hiatus after this post.
So what's up guys! Finally found a time to actually jot down a new post!
Lately a lot of things have been swirling in my mind because I am very new to
the things I am doing at work now and though there are many terms and things I don't
understand, i'm gradually getting used to things and I actually love the fact that I am
learning so many things here.

So anyways, not gonna blabber about life anymore and I shall talk about music!

So some updates on the bands I found that are nice:

1. Whether, I
Song: Dreamcatcher ft.Richard Rogers of Secrets
[Whether, I is a post-hardcore band that hails from Houston, Texas. With a light guitar riff and drop into the heavy side with decent lyrics this song is probably one of the better ones I heard from the rest..this is just a personal opinion. So if you are interested, check this song out first! ]

2. White Lies
Song: Farewell to the Fairground
[A band that hails from london and will be performing in Singapore on 11th April, their vocalist reminds me of the 80s band depache mode. And the riffs in their songs, I'm not quite sure why reminds me of the songs that frequent the 80s/90s scene. It could also be because I'm not a huge fan of indie that I am not used to those type of songs with a standard melodic riff. However I must say farewell to the fairground sounds like something that came from the 80s and its nice to hear those familiar riffs and music style again. Their riffs catch my attention so much that honestly I had to listen to the song 4 times to get their lyrics. Overall, if you are into indie rock, this is one good band to check out! That is if you haven't already]

3. CHVRCHES
Song: The Mother We Share

[A band I fell in love with due to its familiar 80s type of melody. Is it just me or indie music reminds me soo much of the 80s? Maybe its just me but anyways, hearing from the people around me, CHVRCHES are actually quite big in the indie scene so yes, I did jump into the bandwagon a bit late. BUT anyways, so I heard them on Channel V when they had a indie top 5 countdown and immediately fell in love with it. The lead singer, Lauren Mayberry has a really nice and soothing voice. Also, unlike other indie bands where I tend to like only 1 or 2 songs from them I absolutely love all the songs from CHVRCHES. So check 'em out if you havent and you want to have a feel of the 80s in a modern era]

4. Dayshell
[ When I first heard the opening of this song I though 'oh! Is this band a rebirth of creed?" then came in the familar heavy tunes of post-rock melody and that was when I knew this band's music was different from the others. A band that produces mixes soft melodies with heavy bass/drum rhythm, it was quite refreshing to listen to honestly. If your're not into the total heavy stuffs, try listening to When you fall asleep tonight
Its guitar melody right into the chorus is just very soothing and so are the echos of the vocals kind of heighten the song a bit without ruining much of the soothing melodies from the band.]

5. Close to Closure
Songs: Royals Cover
[Now I honestly hated..i repeat HATED the song 'Royals' probably because it kept playing on the radio until it was to the extent that on the first note of the song I would turn off the radio. However this band actually made royals more bearable to hear. With the songs all riffed up and turned into a punk/pop style its actually easier to digest and pleasing to ear. Though lorde's voice is good and all, I think because of the type of genre I like, I'm more biased to this version of the song. Not to mention of the change in the chorus and the last verse before the ending chorus. Either way do check them out cuz its one of my faverite covers.]

With that, I shall end my post.
If you have a band whether its indie, rock, post-hardcore, pop, alternative rock or whatever its genre or language do comment below to let me know and check 'em out! Because honestly sometimes I have no idea where to look for new bands/artists to listen to.

See ya guys in the next post!
Cheerz!

Back to talking 'bout the Music

It's been a few weeks since New Year passed
and school has definitely not given me a break at all.
After the holidays, I was thrown into trying to finish up my graded assignments
and trying to pass my exams.
Finally, yesterday, I finished my last paper!! (though regretfully..because I couldn't finish it)
Had a good rest last night and soon I would be busy again.
However until then I wish to rest and sleep also to start clearing my room as Chinese new year is coming :D

So, apart from writing how hectic my life is, I decided to update on the music I have been listening to!

New Heights
I actually stumbled upon this band when I was watching someone's video and I felt that this one song the person used was really good and now...I'm hooked on them. A soft-rock/Pop sound and feel to them, this song totally got me hooked with its soft rhythm and gentle lyrics. The lead singer has a great voice too. If you like groups like Boyce Avenue, then this band is a that you should try listening to because, they do covers as well!
Songs I would recommend: Gonna love you / Closer

Connor Cruise
Funnily enough, I stumbled upon this song when I watching a fashion variety show. (Yes I have no fashion sense but I do watch the shows. I think I have recommanded it a few posts back.) My most faverite song from him is 'Closer to Heaven' feat. Masson Musso (former frontman of Metro station). I feel that the song is uplifting and definitely it makes a good BGM if you want to make a crazy girls-night-out video. Also, I like the beat of the song and how at its peak it just makes you want to jump.
#Funfact: I read in an article that Connor Cruise is tom cruise & Nicole Kidman's son!! Interesting fact there for you guys!
Songs I would recommend: Closer to heaven

[Champagne]
Not sure if I have ever recommended this band here on this blog, but I will still recommend anyways because they need that recognition. If you like J-rock then this is the group for you. However honestly speaking, I wont call them rock..maybe indie..but I'm not sure how to categorize them because they really changed the way they play their song in their latest single/album 'Oblivion'. Their songs are always feel with that intriguing sound and for their latest single 'Run away', there is more of a 'rock' feel and I really enjoy. That mixture of the synthesized piano and guitar shredding with that drum beat that makes the whole song just perfect and fresh. The lyrics is also just nice especially on nights when you really just want to leave everything behind.
'Stepping out to the world where all the lights are gone, I cant sleep, I can't sleep/ When all the bustle's gone and all the grouch is done, I will run away, run away'
I find their new song soothing and it is one of the most replayed songs in my list.
Songs I recommend: Run Away / Waitress, Waitress/Kick Spin

An Honest Mistake
I came upon this group when I was browsing through some local bands. However 'An honest mistake' is not a local band but is from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I am honestly in awe on how much I didnt see how there are so many good music around me, both locally and in the neighboring countries. [Maybe one day I shall do a post about it] Anyways, this band is pop-punk band and whats interesting is that they have a member that plays the violin in it! (yes like yellowcard!!) Fronted by a male lead backed with a female lead, they have somewhat a paramore meets good charlotte feel ( Yes I tried my best to click them together...please do not bash me on how I described their music). Also, they wrote how A skylit drive is one of their influence!! Overall, I'm looking forward to hearing more songs from this band
Songs I recommend: Let's battle it out with Vesuvius the great/If I told you this was real would you believe me/Giddy up horsie! The chase ain't waiting for you

Alright!! I hope you guys would check out the groups/songs I recommended today!!
If you feel that there is a band I should check out do write at the comments!!
Have an awesome week ahead!

Cheers!!

Bored this holiday? Here are my recommendations!!

Hey everyone
How has the holidays been treating you?
So far I've been busy and my week will be busier after christmas *sigh*
However, over the past few days I managed to squeeze some time to watch some shows!
I've been watching so much shows and completing a lot of dramas lately that my dark eye circles have grown to become worse. (and the purpose of this holiday was for me to get rid of those)

But what else could I do but to rest and watch some shows as I suffered a small stint of diarrhea and had to stay in bed (or the toilet) for 2 days.

Some dramas I have watched are:
1. The Heirs
(loads of handsome actors but honestly the plot just really makes you want to punch the wall..but what can I do..kim woo bin is in it haha)
2. School 2013
(This show kind of reminded me of my secondary school days)
3. Bel Ami/Pretty Boy
(This show is still ongoing and I just finished watching the latest episode today...so far so good!!)
4. Master's sun
(Very realistic ghosts and a good plot..though relationship wise between the characters made me want to punch the wall again)
5. Hanzawa Naoki
(A really good drama with a really good plot plus the scenes shot in this drama was well taken..however the ending was just urghhh...but overall I recommend this show a lot cuz it really was interesting)

Also, I have been catching up with the usuall variety shows I have been watching. Cool Kidz on the block has now moved on to basketball and they are actually winning in the games!! So happy for them because even for badminton or bowling they seemed to lost almost all the competitions. Guess basketball was their forte. It is sad though that suguen is out of the show due to his scandal though :/
My favorite show 2D1N had said goodbye to the old season 2 cast and have moved up to season 3. So far my feelings towards season 3 is mutual. Maybe because I am still not used to the cast, im not howling in laughter as I used to. Not to mention only 2 of the old season 2 members stayed on the show. Well, hopefully in time to come it would get better.
Of course the ever humorous show The Human Condition is something not to miss. This week their mission is 'living without stress' and the guest is Taecyeon from 2pm!! that is so cool..the first episode just aired so I cant wait for the next haha.
Another variety show that caught my attention was The return of superman. It showcases the kids of celebrities like Lee hwijae and Tablo! Omg tablo daughter is really cute and all the fathers on this show really do adore their kids so much. I truly recommend you to watch this show if you enjoy watching 'dad where are you going?'
(Image taken from viki)

Lastly, a show I had recently just started watching (I started a few days back actually) was 'Style Log'. I just came across it when I was looking for videos on Kim woobin and it was kind of interesting. They basically recommend the 'hot' fashion stars, news and just basicially anything that is a trend in the fashion world. They also showcase the hottest artists in korea.Though I am not a fashionable person, I love watching and reading things related to fashion so this show really intrigued me. Plus the background music they choose to use are really good. Therefore if you are interested in fashion, arts and models this show would definitely be for you.
You can watch it here at this site that I came across. (Thanks to the person who took the effort to translate them!!)

So those are my recommendations to you and a short write up on what I have been doing.
Hope you guys are having a good holiday and some rest or maybe travelling around the world (lucky you)
Well, I wish you a merry christmas and I will write again soon

Cheers!!

Welcoming September

Hey all!
So, September has come.
A new month means new discoveries and hopefully a break.
Yes! My holidays are coming up soon in just four more days.
But as always before peace there is always a battle.
I have four UTs coming up and they are all giving me a headache.
(Reason why I decided to come here to blog and take a rest)
One bad thing about revising on your computer is that you get distracted really easily.

Anyways I realised I have mentioned what I have been up to lately,
But not the things I have been 'digging'. Haha.
So I thought why not I fill you guys in on what I like these days.

Currently, I am reading a few books.
Hiromi Kawakami's Strange weather in Tokyo
It is an interesting book and I think its more philosophical rather then a normal fiction book. Still reading it so maybe I will talk about it when I'm done.

The Mortal Instruments series
I just got into this book about 2 days ago after I watched the movie. The story is like Twilight meeting harry potter with a lot of sarcasm. So far it is not bad, typical teenage book but its still pulling me in to read the whole series.

I have actually finished reading Dan brown's Inferno (I don't think I have mentioned this before)
It was as amazing as his past books. I honestly wonder how Dan brown's mind works. How can he write such detailed plots and twine it with religious matters and just really write such an amazing book.
An unexpected ending but all's good, I had fun reading it.

Movies
I have finally watched Wolverine and the man of steel!!

The man of steel wasnt as bad as how others described (except that superman was robbed of his red underwear). So much action for a superman film and overall I kind enjoyed it.

The Wolverine was good but I honestly just watched it cuz it had Japan in context. Haha. But overall a great deal of action but it was just the ending that was weird for me and also the movie was a bit lengthy but hey its wolverine so..superhero movies are kinda lengthy these days.

Mortal instruments:city of bones, a movie I was looking forward to when I found the trailer a few months back and honestly it was okay. The plot was confusing for me but hey 'Jace' made it all better. There was quite a lot of action, a HUGE plot twist that just made me so sad and loads of sarcasm haha. But honestly most of the time my eyes was just on Jace the shadowhunter..so handsome he is..oh and the warlock omg..the warlock was handsome too!! Magnus Bane!! This movie is like a chick flick with action to me.

Music
So many things to say about music cuz I found so many awesome awesome songs over the month. Oh! and I finally got 30 seconds to mars' new album (SO HAPPY)
So recent bands I like would be

1. Hands like houses

2. The summer state
(their a local band and I saw them live the other day. I bought their EP too and really love their songs)

3. The Cab
Another band I have started to listen often to is 'The Cab'. Their music is really good in a way that they sound different from what is out there these days.

4. Muse
Also I kind of dig 'supremacy' by Muse. I don't really like Muse's songs but this song is really good!!

5. AFI
Yes they are back and how much I miss them. Their new song I hope you suffer is totally them but then their other song 17crimes (which was used in mortal  instrument..when I heard it as the credit rolled I friggn fangirled) is a bit different from their usual sound but I really like it.

I have many other songs to recommand but I shall leave it for another day. Maybe by then I would have even more songs to recommand haha.

So that is what I have been listening/reading/watching these days.
I shall update again if I have the time :)
Till then have an awesome month ahead and welcome September with an open heart!!

Cheers

Music Fridays: Live Performances

So I have decided,
that maybe it would be nice to have a little corner on fridays to showcase
the music I've found over the week or some awesome stuffs I've found on the web.
I mean cuz its 10 times better then reading about my day isn't it?
(I can see some people nodding their heads)

For this week, I'll be sharing with you guys my fave Live performances so far :D
Some I have found over the past week and some I have been watching since I found a few weeks back.

In my effective presentation skills class, my facilitator told us to use the space you have to engage your audience and this performance pretty much used their "space".
From the normal stage on the ground, they brought it up.
Really love this performance because its different and like the song their lives are so upbeat that it makes you want to jump up with them.

This was the first acoustic version of "my songs know what you did in the dark" I came across
and I found myself going back just to listen to patrick's voice. Love this acoustic version and it makes
the song more unique then it already is.

If you read my past posts, I'm sure you remember me linking this video and here I am putting it up here again. I am just in awe on how he managed to make such an upbeat song becoming soothing like it is portrayed here. Foxes's vocal are amazing as well and she can really pull off this song without any auto-tune what-so-ever.

The script is another amazing band I love and this song was what made The script big. This live version of "The man who can't be moved" gave me goosebumps. When the audience started to sing the first part,
ho my gosh I felt amazed. I'm always amazed and enjoy the audience singing to the band. Its also something I personally experience but, though we all, the audience sing in different tones or shout the lyrics, we somehow all harmonize and it just sounds amazing.

The last video would be from paramore. Beautiful Hayley will stay beautiful. Though she has grown from her "misery business" days her/their performances are something that will never change. Energetic, powerful and electrifying. Though their songs are changing to be more upbeat they still carry out a show "paramore style" and I love it. Still into you is very different from the songs they make and the first time I heard I was like "mehh" but now its kind of addictive. The lyrics are nice and the beats of the song is just cute in a way that makes you feel like your really into someone.

So that was my music friday videos.
I hope you enjoy these performances as I do and do drop me a message if you enjoyed it ;D

Have an awesome weekend cuz I definitely will.
I'm going to be watching Star Trek:into the darkness with my 'awesome' buddies on Saturday.

Cheers!

Music Recommendations 2~~

Continuing from where I left off in my other post.

Ahh yes. Urban Zakapa.
Now I think more people are familiar with Urban Zakapa but I still consider them as korean indie music.
To learn more about who Urban Zakapa is, there is a video below from Eat your kimchi that got to interview them. (I'm so jealous) So I think more people have gotten familiar on who Urban zakapa is through this video (because Eat Your Kimchi is one of the more popular Korean review channel, that I really love and admire must i add. Also i'm thankful they did this interview with urban zakapa so more people will get to know more of their awesome music! )

Another song I like from them called 'I hate you'

The next group is my most favorite out of all the Korean indie artists out there.
10cm

This was the group that started my so called 'Korean indie' craze. Like after this group I started to listen to more music that was not on TV.
I forgot where I had first known them however, their song 'Americano' just hit me.
By the time I got to know 'Americano' it was popular in Korea.
From 'americano' to 'I'm scared of the dark tonight' to their latest song 'I'm fine thank you'
I love them all.
All these songs that I have liked are the type that honestly goes well with my coffee.
Like its just some songs that you could unwind to after a long day.

I'm scared ot the dark tonight is a song i often listened to before I sleep next to their song 'Good night'

10cm's sorrow if bright and bundled with a fun melody that contradicts paul potts's i'm missing you however the whole piece just merges well with each other. Also the lyrics are somewhat matching in a way.

So to end this post,
I hope you enjoyed these few recommendations.
If you read my past blogs like long time ago (probably from my past blog), I'm sure you already know that these groups are my utmost fave in the indie scene.

[Just gonna put another 2 more videos to end this post in a right way.
I listen to a wide range of music and I appreciate all kinds of music in all different kind of languages. So please, do leave me a comment if you think there is a group out there I should listen to. :) ]

We all know Psy, however I knew his music before he hit big before Gangnam style and this was the song that attracted me. Honestly speaking, till today I think this song is the best as compared GS and gentleman. However I personally like 'Champion' (Check it out if you have time. The video is EQUALLY hilarious)

Aziatix. Perfect english, Perfect beats and rap. Handsome dude, Awesome music. What not to love?
This video ready set go was made for the Olympics that happened 2 years back.
I love this video because of the artistic concept and the music itself was interesting (like how they incorporated the traditional 'arirang' into the song. Also how the lyrics incorporated harmony and doing your best as a message.)

Music Recommendations~~

Today I will introduce you to some korean music I listen to.

Ok I'm sure right now some of you would probably go
"OHHHMMYYYYGOOOSSSSHH are you serious? So you are one of those kpop crazy person too?"
Now hold up there.
Yes I like Korean music. (I used to hate them but you know what people say. The more you hate it, the more you start liking it)
Now please note that I said 'korean music' and not 'Kpop' because i dont only listen to kpop I listen to a wide variety of music, they just tend to be in korean.

So the first artist I would like to introduce is 'Ra.D'.
He is a korean R&B singer songwriter and he writes really touching songs that hits right into your heart.
I do not think he is active now however I got to learn about him through other artists.
The song 'mother' was what caught my attention and it is my most favorite song from him next to 'i'm in love'.
It would be hard for me to explain why i like it so, if you have the time do personally check out the song 'mother' in eng sub and you would kind of get why when I first hear it, it just hit it me so hard in the heart.

However, I'm posting 2 videos of a cover of his song.

This is a video of a participant from Superstar K. This video went 'viral' in korea in a way. As you can see many are tearing up as the participant sing. It is actually because the mother (the woman sitting down) of the soldier that was singing suffers from cancer and dont have much time to live. However because he is in the army, he dosen't have much time to spend with her. Honestly when I first watched it I literally cried. The way he sung it was just too moving.

This is the 2nd song that is my favorite from him.

I'm in love. He wrote this song to propose to his wife. The song is just really filled with soul and the lyrics are sweet too. Its one of those songs that I wish someone to sing for me. (I know what you are thinking...In my dreams right? rofl. )

The 2nd group I want to introduce is 'Geeks'

I heard this duo on the radio and like their version of the song 'officially missing you'. It is originally an English song by tamia. However this R&B style remixed version of it just caught my attention. Its a kind of song that you could listen to when you want something slow yet fast while drinking your morning coffee.

Geeks are made up by Louie and Lil boy.
They also did a remix from another popular indie group 'Urban Zapka'. The song is 'Caffe Latte' and you should totally check out the original version of the song and the remix.

Music Post #2

So today, cause i feel like it, i will post 3 groups i would like to introduce to ya'll :)

Jade Monkey

Jade Monkey is a group i stumbled upon when i was looking for guitar covers on some songs and their songs are a little mellow, like a happy kinda feel and its really not bad.
I just found the songs interesting and like the song 'Stab in the dark' the beat and guitar riffs really mesh well together.

Their from Sydney and the band consists of:
Dale Randolph - Lead Vocals / Bass
Nic Barker - Vocals / Guitar
Max Harris-Brassil - Vocals / Lead Guitar
Dane Voorderhake - Drums
Source: http://www.facebook.com/jademonkeyband

The Next group i would want to recommand is
Bump of chicken.
This group has been the japanese charts alot of times and been around for a while.
I didnt like them at first but these days i started to re-listen to their songs, after i heard their song
'tomodachi(friend)'.
Some of their songs i could say is poetic, like their telling a story. The lyrical content isnt direct like they wont say their 'happy' but take a whole bunch of descriptive words and tell a story about happiness.
Like this song i am recommanding today called 'laugh maker'. It talks of a person who is crying and dosent want to be disturbed but a man called 'laugh maker' came along.
The other song that you all should listen to is 'K'. Honestly that song was heartbreaking but very meaningful. It is rare to find such composers these days who writes a song like a story, so do check them out.

Last artist i would like to recommand today is
Verbal Jint.
He is a korean rapper and he's been in the underground scene for a while but recently made light to the mainstream music by collaborating with well known artists.
This song 'you deserve better' is one of my fave songs from him.
The slow R&B feel with the vocals really match well and kinds of remind you of past R&B songs in the 90s.
The video itself is interesting because it shows of how verbal jint cannot stand the sight of the girl getting hurt but he cant do anything much but stay by her side because he is actually her pet dog.
The lyrics itself is also good. If you feel down and out from a recent rocky relationship well, you deserve better and this is a good pick up song for that.
Another song i would recommand from him would be 'bachelor monkey' that features zico from block b.
korean:

원숭이띠 미혼남 (Feat. ZICO Of Block B)

アンテナ / さよならの代わり
[Antena / Sayonara (Goodbye)]
